Brand Licensing Europe is the only event in Europe where all the major property owners and agents, representing thousands of brands, characters, images and more, come together attracting retailers and product developers.

2007 saw the launch of Art, Design and Image Licensing at Brand Licensing Europe, an extension to the previously named Art and Design Zone, and seeing as visitors attending with a specific interest in art and design properties increased by over 38% in the last year, we thought it might be in our interests to exhibit. This was alongside Look and Learn, an archive we have recently come to represent.

Bridgeman presents beautiful, timeless imagery

On the Bridgeman stand, as well as rather a distinctive clown, we showcased elegant art deco by Barbier, vintage posters and classic children’s illustration including Arthur Rackham’s fairies. We highlighted these images for their timeless, classic appeal and as a unique, high end alternative to some of the more highly commercialised imagery promoted at the show.

The Fairies have their Tiff with the Birds by Arthur Rackham (1867-1939) Chris Beetles, London

The Beautiful Savages by Georges Barbier (1882-1932) Stapleton Collection, UK

Look and Learn
Nostalgia was also shown to be no longer a thing of the past with the Look and Learn stand. This archive started life as a weekly educational magazine for children in the early 1960s and depicts beautifully illustrated scenes from history as well as other subjects of perennial interest to children. From Greek myths to pirates and World War II fighter planes, the images have a retro quality which is proving popular today if you consider the recent success of books like The Dangerous Book for Boys. All images are scanned from the original artwork and restriction free.
